ABOUT US

The story of Ulevari Valley Winery traces back generations, rooted in the rich winemaking traditions. What began as a modest vineyard cultivated by ancestors seeking to harness the unique terroir of the valley has flourished into a renowned estate celebrated for its exceptional wines. The winery is located in the quaint Georgian village of Martkopi, just a 40-minute drive from Tbilisi. Ulevari Valley Winery offers a selection of different wine experiences, giving you the opportunity to visit the vineyard, and the cellar, and taste a range of different wines and chacha (a.k.a Georgian grappa).

Although the winery's name is associated with the valley where the vineyards are located, the word ‘Ulevari’ also means ‘abundant’ in Georgian. The choice of naming the valley Ulevari stems from its historical significance, as it served as a campsite for numerous Persian invaders prior to the pivotal battle of Martkopi in 1625. This battle holds immense importance in Georgian history, as it defended the people of Kartli and Kakheti against Persian invaders. Today, the fertile land of Ulevari Valley nurtures vineyards, nestled against the backdrop of the majestic Yalno Ridge, which rises 1874 meters above sea level, a notable feature of the Caucasus Mountain range.

The family also conducts vineyard excursions so that visitors can take in the breathtaking vistas of the majestic Caucasus Mountain ranges, learn about Martkopi's history, and taste delicious wines as the sun sets.
